(LIS) Lisbon International Airport is located approx. 4 km (2.5 mi) from the campus of Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and 7 km (4.3 mi) from the city centre (15 minutes by taxi, 25-30 minutes by public transportation). Direct flights from most of the European cities, North and South America and Africa land at Lisbon airport. If you have any questions about the location of the congress, how to get to the venue or about the tours of Lisbon that were advertised, an Abreu information point will be available at the airport.

Once in Lisbon, there are several ways to get to the venue and to most of the suggested Hotels:

By Metro / Underground: There is a Metro/Underground Station at the airport (Aeroporto – Red Line). You need to change the line to reach most of the recommended hotels and the conference venue. The conference venue at Faculty of Sciences is located near the metro stations “Campo Grande” and “Cidade Universitária” (Green and Yellow Lines). Tickets must be purchased in machines inside the station and cost 1.40€ per ride + 0.50€ Reusable Transport card. For more details please visit MetroLisboa.

By Airport Buses: The Aerobus departs every 20 minutes between 7AM and 9PM, and then every half hour until 11PM. It stops in the main hotel districts (Saldanha, Marquês de Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade and Baixa) and takes around 20 to 30 minutes to reach the center. The ticket may be purchased from the driver upon boarding the bus. A ticket costs 3.50€. For more details please visit YellowBusTours.

By CARRIS Buses: Lisbon Airport is served by a good transport network which enables you to reach the city centre in minutes. City bus routes 705, 722, 744, 783 (day schedules) and 208 (night schedule) stop at the airport. If you came directly to the conference venue, the bus route 783 is the most convenient. Tickets can be purchased on the bus: 1.75€. For more information please visit CARRIS (see maps). Important: In CARRIS regular Buses only luggage with maximum measurement of 50x40x20cm is allowed. For larger luggage please use the Airport Buses Service.

By Taxi: Taxis line up immediately outside the arrivals terminal 24 hours a day. It is one of the most popular transport choices. Rides to downtown cost between 12 and 15€ (even with extra luggage charge). You can call a taxi at +351 218111111.

2. By train:

There are comfortable train services (“Alpha” and “Intercidades”) from the North and South of Portugal. There are also some connections with Spain cities such as Vigo, Madrid and San Sebastian. The train stations are “Oriente” and “Santa Apolónia” where you can take the metro / underground, regular bus lines or a taxi to the city centre or the conference venue. For more information about timetables and prices visit CP Website.

3. By bus:

If you are coming to Lisbon by bus, you will probably arrive at the Terminal Rodoviário de Sete Rios or Oriente. There are several bus companies running services between many European cities and Oporto (Inter-Norte), Lisbon (Inter-Centro) and Faro (Inter-Sul). There is also national long distance bus networks for communication between the main portuguese cities (see Rede Expressos). Upon arrival you may choose taking the metro / underground, regular bus lines or a taxi to the hotel or the conference venue.

4. By car:

Drivers coming from the north use highways A1 and A8 while those coming from East and South use highway A2 to reach Lisbon through the 25 de Abril bridge or may use A12 and enter via Northeast of Lisbon through the Vasco da Gamma bridge.

One other option is to get off at the Campo Grande (yellow and green lines) stop. If you do this you should follow the signs marked Campo Grande/Museu da Cidade or Faculdade de Ciências/Universidade Lusófona.

If you're staying in one of the recommended Hotels, you can take the metro to the Faculty at the following stops:
